Marquette University announces spending cuts due to low enrollment

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University is making changes to help combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

The university says freshman enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year is lower than expected.

Now, the university is suspending contributions to employee retirement plans.

Thirty-five leaders will take a 5-percent salary cut.

Discretionary spending has been cut by 10-percent.
