MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A survivor of a mass shooting is visiting Courage MKE's gala on Friday, Nov. 3.
He is advocating for two different causes.
Brandon Wolf was at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando on the night of the 2016 mass shooting that killed 49 people.
Wolf hid in the bathroom during the attack.
Tonight, he was a featured guest at Courage MKE's annual gala.
Wolf's best friend is among those who died in the shooting.
Wolf is now a member of the Human Rights Campaign, where he advocates for LGBTQ youth, and for stricter gun laws.
He says, to this day, he draws inspiration from being a pallbearer at his friend's funeral.
"We got to the front of the church that day. I looked down at his casket, and I promised him that I would never stop fighting for a world that he would be proud of. A world that he would be proud of is a world where every young person knows they are valued and loved exactly as they are," said Wolf.
The gala included a wide-ranging auction to raise funds for Courage MKE, which provides housing and scholarship to young LGBTQ people.
