MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Spoken word artist Kwabena Antoine Nixon was the emcee Tuesday as they raised the Juneteenth flag at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
"So this is a day of joy and celebration. Clap your hands and make some noise so I know you're out there with us. For MATC, be a little bit louder," Nixon said.
The flag flies on top of the school's "S" building at 6th and Highland.
Milwaukee's Juneteenth celebration is coming up on Friday. The school will be closed to observe the federal holiday marking the end of slavery in America. MATC will be part of Friday's celebration.
Their flag will fly through June 22.
