MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The migration of college students is underway in Milwaukee.
Freshmen students arrived at their new apartments at MATC Monday, pushing the traditional blue carts carrying their belongings at the Westown Green apartments on Martin Luther King Drive.
The new students were greeted by food trucks and music and the president of MATC was there as well to meet the young newcomers.
"They're full of excitement, hope, possibilities. They're moving in with friends, they're meeting new friends, they're moving in from out of state," said Vicki Martin, MATC president.
"I'm excited, I'm very excited and open to see new things, meeting new people, you know what I'm saying," said freshman Anaya Bethea. "Getting a feel for the city life because I've lived like on the outskirts of Tampa. So getting the feel of the downtown city life, getting to meet new people."
The Westown Green apartments opened last year. They occupy part of the old Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper building.
This year those apartments are 95% occupied.
MATC's fall semester starts next week.
