46-year-old dead after crash on I-94 southbound at Grange Ave.
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One man is dead after a crash on Saturday, Dec. 14.
It happened around 6 p.m. on I-94 southbound at Grange Ave. The freeway was closed for emergency crews to attend to the crash.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, a 46-year-old man from Oak Creek was driving a car with one passenger, a 55-year-old Franklin woman. Witnesses say the car had stopped in the median when it abruptly entered traffic at a high rate of speed, moving across multiple lanes and clipping another vehicle, striking the outer retention wall. The car then careened back across all traffic lanes, striking the median wall and coming to a stop.
The sheriff's office says deputies tried to revive the man, and the fire department continued those efforts, but they were unsuccessful.
The passenger suffered from serious but non-fatal injuries and was taken to a local hospital. MCSO says the clipped vehicle suffered minor damage, and that driver was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation. The freeway reopened around 10:16 p.m.
