MCSO warns of social security phone scam

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about a social security phone scam.

MCSO says department phone numbers are being used by scammers posing as Social Security Administration employees.

Authorities say the phone numbers scammers use are the same as other numbers. It’s a practice called spoofing.

If you have received one of these scam calls, you should contact the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271 or online.
