MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- What started off as a report of a car fire on Milwaukee's north side is now being investigated as a homicide.
Neighbors say it was a scary scene Monday night, after Milwaukee police received a call about a car on fire around 9:20 p.m. near N. 26th Street and Locust. Once first responders arrived on the scene, they found a man dead inside of the car.
Milwaukee police say it is being investigated as a homicide and the medical examiner's office is working to identify the man.
One neighbor, who wants to remain anonymous, says she's lived in the area for several years and this crime is too close for comfort.
"I'm very on edge, very," said the neighbor. "Gotta be more secure, you know, be aware of your surroundings and you know, be careful out here because it's very tough."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or through the P3 Tips online service.
