MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This weekend is the 5th annual MKE Studio Tour. There are 22 stops from as far north as Brown Deer to as far south as Cudahy. You can meet nearly 60 artists who work with all kinds of mediums, from watercolor painters to jewelry makers, potters and sculptors.

"I've been in the creative world my whole life and after art school I did a lot of freelance," said Maria Knier. Knier is showing off her Totum Fauna pieces. The mythical creatures and animal sculptures are something unique that Knier got into while she was a children's book author and illustrator.

"When I do see someone walk into my booth, and they light up, it's just priceless because you know you have an instant connection with that person and it's just the best," said Knier.

Knier will be in her garage showing off her art along with two other guest artists.

"I'm a full-time jeweler," said Meghan Sheahan. "I make sterling silver and gold jewelry from scratch. Basically, I'm not using any mold, I'm not using any parts from other stores. I start with sheet and wire and just create from there."

You can support all of the artists by purchasing their art, but the studio tour is also a chance to talk with artists and understand the intention behind all of their pieces.

For Sheahan, the passion and love for stones starts before she enters the studio to start creating a piece. She works directly with lapidaries and miners in Arizona and Montana.

"It's really interesting to see what comes out of the earth -- the jaspers and quartz and agate that I use are all so unique," said Sheahan.

The tour goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. You can go to as many or as few locations as you want.
