MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- We met a very special dog today who is looking for a forever home, and it may be yours.
Stacy Oatman from the Wisconsin Humane Society joined us on Friday, June 10 to chat with us about Sadie, a 3-year-old pup available for adoption at the WHS Milwaukee campus.
She also gave us some information about the appropriate steps to take when meeting a dog for the first time. That includes to ask the owner before doing so, crouch down, stay still, letting the dog approach you. Then, she advised petting under the chin instead of on the top of the dog's head, being sure not to force the dog to approach you.
While doing all of that, it is also important to watch for any signs of discomfort, Oatman said.
