MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Industrial Road Drop-Off Center will remain closed Friday, Sept. 4, according to DPW, following Wednesday's fire at the waste management transfer station. 

Officials say an assessment determined there is no structural damage to the facility, but while the building is safe, it is still without power and machinery can't be operated. An assessment as to whether all machinery is in working order has not yet been completed. 

The Lincoln Avenue Drop Off Center will be open Friday during normal operating hours.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee fire crews responded to a large fire at a waste management transfer station Wednesday night, Sept. 2, off N. Industrial Road.

Firefighters responded to the station around 5 p.m., according to the Department of Public Works (DPW); the transfer station was closed at the time of the incident.

DPW says garbage trucks bring collected material to the station before it's taken to a waste management facility.

The fire department said crews were wrapping up at the scene as of 8:45 p.m., and no injuries were reported. 

DPW says while the Drop-Off Center on Industrial Road was unaffected, it will be closed Thursday, Sept. 3, due to its proximity to the fire.

The Lincoln Avenue Drop-Off Center will remain open during normal operating hours Thursday. 

Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the extent of damage has not yet been determined.
