Midwest Gaming Classic returns as the largest retro gaming event in the US
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thousands will come together this weekend to celebrate their love of gaming.
The Midwest Gaming Classic is back for the 23rd year. The event started in the basement of a West Allis Boy Scouts office with 100 like-minded people. Now, it's grown to three floors at the Baird Center in Downtown Milwaukee.
"Even if you have an arcade in your hometown, if you're lucky enough to have one, there's definitely games here that you can't play anywhere else," said Andy Nelson, the hype man for the Midwest Gaming Classic.
There will be 10,000 games including pinball, video game consoles and tabletop games.
"There's games that date back to the 50s there's pinball games that aren't even connected to electricity.
"Every console that's ever been created," said Nelson.
The event will bring together families and friends alike.
"You have these different generations of gamers sitting down and playing these retro games and sharing them with each other," said Nelson. "It's really special."
