MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee alderman has a new plan to help the city go more green.
Alderman Tony Zielinski is proposing that all small new homes in Milwaukee have solar powered energy systems.
He says the initial costs would be higher for the homeowner, but the solar system would eventually pay for itself and would reduce the need for fossil fuels.
"Only new homes, if you're building a new home, it's much easier to equip this at that time. That's the concept. I know the state of California has recently enacted legislation like this so I'm thinking if the state of California can do this, I think the city of Milwaukee can do this," said 14th District Ald. Tony Zielinski,
