MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee Buck took time to visit students at Brown Street Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Brook Lopez sat down to read books to elementary school kids.
It wasn't just a scholastic book fair, it was a "Brook Fair."
Thanks to Lopez, the Bucks, and United Way, the kids each took home five free books, a bookmark, stickers and a bag.
Lopez says he feels fortunate to be able to spread his love of reading by hanging out with students.
"Seeing all the imagination these kids have, the ability they have to create new worlds, just fun ideas, reading is a way to access all those ideas and explore them," said Lopez.
Lopez says his favorite books are fantasy stories, like the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings.
Since 2021, more than 75,000 books have been donated to kids by Lopes through his 'Brook Fairs,' across 40 public schools in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.
