Milwaukee Central Count tallying thousands of absentee ballots ahead of polls closing

CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Workers at Central Count are working to tally thousands of absentee ballots.
Tallying began early Tuesday, Aug. 11 and the Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) says it has been a smooth day overall as more ballots arrive.
The MEC has received over 26,000 absentee ballots for this election thus far and more than 16,000 ballots have been processed.
The MEC says they can expect operations to start picking up as the final hours of tallying and polling are
approaching.
Voters who still have an absentee ballot can drop their ballot off directly at Central Count until 8 p.m. or at one of the city’s drop boxes until 6 p.m.
