Milwaukee Christian Center hosting fundraiser to bolster neighborhood programs

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Christian Center is scheduled to host its third annual fundraiser, "A Celebration of Strong Neighborhoods," to support various community-oriented programs.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Milwaukee neighborhoods, aiding youth development, elder care, food security and housing programs. Last year's gathering raised over $127,000.

The fundraising event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 24, from 5 - 8 p.m at The Ivy House in Milwaukee. It will spotlight the Older Adults Program, which annually supports over 2,400 seniors through meals, wellness activities, social opportunities and additional services.

Latin jazz music is on the schedule, as well as an appetizer buffet from local restaurant Antigua Latin Inspired Kitchen.

More than 25 companies and organizations sponsor the event, with nearly 100 individuals and businesses donating auction items.

Attendees can participate in both silent and live auctions. MCC's website provides ticket purchasing and donation options.
