Milwaukee Common Council members renew calls to sue Kia, Hyundai

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two Milwaukee leaders are renewing their calls for the city to sue Kia and Hyundai after thousands have been stolen.

In a statement released Monday, March 13, Common Council members Milele Coggs and Khalif Rainey said it's time for the city to join the others suing the automakers, because Milwaukee is "the ground zero for where many of these issues began."

According to Milwaukee police, more than 4,600 Kias and Hyundais were stolen in 2022, and just last month, the Department of Transportation announced both automakers would update their software to prevent thefts.
