Milwaukee community to unite in the name of safety for 'Take Back Our Community Week' π§πΎβπ€βπ§π»
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --Β In a unified effort aimed at fostering safety and unity in Milwaukee, nonprofit Wisconsin Voices and Senator Lena Taylor have spearheaded "Take Back Our Community Week."
This week-long series of events will address pivotal issues such as mental health, gun safety and advocacy.
Scheduled to begin on Monday, July 24 and conclude on Saturday, July 29, the initiative will feature a host of local organizations. Each day will encompass a different theme:
- July 24: It Takes All of Us
- July 25: Gun Safety Awareness
- July 26: Taking Care of Our Community
- July 27: Advocacy Day
- July 28: We Locked-In
- July 29: Mental Health
Tomika Vukovic, Co-Executive Director of Organizational Empowerment for Wisconsin Voices discussed the initiative in a Wednesday, July 12 press release. "People need resources and safe spaces to connect."
She added, "We are privileged to bring events like these into our communities."
Tim Schindler, also with Wisconsin Voices, underscored the need for such initiatives. "There is a need for support, resources, and areas of safe havens in our communities.".
