Milwaukee County Zoo celebrates birth of baby porcupine with gender reveal

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Zoo just celebrated the birth of a porcupine baby, known as a "porcupette."

Footage taken and posted by the Milwaukee County Zoo shows the proud mother porcupine releasing pink confetti in a gender reveal for the female baby. 

The porcupette, who is the fifth born to her parents, is shown getting weighed at the zoo and hanging out in her habitat. 

At birth, a porcupette's quills are soft, but they become stiff and sharp within minutes, according to the zoo.
