MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee County Zoo’s groundhog, Gordy, predicted an early spring on Tuesday, February 2.
A virtual ceremony was held to celebrate Groundhog Day.
“[Gordy] whispered to me it looks like an early spring, he does not see his shadow,” Zookeeper Joe Newell said.
This marked the third year Gordy has made predictions, last year he called for six more weeks of winter. Usually the Groundhog Day celebration at the zoo draws a crowd, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was turned into a virtual event.
After making his prediction, Gordy snacked on some treats and then went back inside.
