Milwaukee Crime Stoppers 2021 roundup: Anonymous tips help with 40 arrests, including 4 homicide suspects
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As the year comes to an end, CBS 58 wants to remind citizens to continue to call Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS. Your calls have made a big difference in 2021.
So far, there have been nearly 2,000 tips called in to Milwaukee Crime Stoppers. Because of those tips, 40 arrests have been made to help solve crimes in your city -- including four people arrested for homicide.
Overall, callers have earned nearly $20,000 in reward money, most have which has been given out and some of that money hasn't been claimed.
In 2021, there have been 194 homicides, making it another record year of violence.
"It's been a particularly violent year, I have been in this unit for a number of years and this is the busiest we've ever been. This is the most homicides we have ever had," said Det. RoseMarie Galindo, with the Milwaukee Police Department. "Even if someone thinks that the information they have isn't going to solve the case. Even if they think that its a little bit or a hunch, maybe their significant was acting strange, it's best to call in and let us filter through the tips. A lot of times people have valuable information and they don't know it. So yes, Crime Stoppers helps."
