Milwaukee Film Festival returns for 15th year starting Thursday
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Film Festival is back for another year and has yet another extensive, genre-spanning list of movies for viewers to choose from.
"It's just great new films from around the world and right here in Milwaukee, really showcasing the best in cinema for Milwaukee," Milwaukee Film Artistic Director Cara Ogburn said.
"We like to say there is something for everyone at the festival, and that's definitely true this year."
The festival will show movies at the Oriental Theatre, the Times Cinema and the Avalon.
The festival kicks off on Thursday with the world premiere of the Wisconsin-based documentary "Mom and Dad's Nipple Factory." The film is about the filmmaker's parents as his mother desires to restore her body after dealing with breast cancer, and his father works to make that happen.
"[The filmmaker's] dad, who is a very upright gentleman, says, 'well, maybe I can do something' and launches a nipple factory, producing nipples that are more lifelike than anything else that had been on the market for his wife and other women," Ogburn said.
After the movie, there is an opening night party at the Prizlaff Building. If you cannot make it Thursday, there are still a lot of chances to see any of the 283 movies from 51 countries playing at the festival this year.
"We do have our program categories as a way to help you find your way in," Ogburn said. "But also, take a chance, get surprised, discover somebody new, somebody's new story, and open your eyes to the world."
You can buy tickets at the box office or MKEfilm.org.
