CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS 58) -- There were a number of protests or rallies in the surrounding areas of the DNC Monday, Aug. 19. One of which was organized by a Wisconsin group making their voice heard.
Voces de la Frontera, which translates to Voices of the Border, advocates for the rights of immigrants and their families in Wisconsin.
On Monday, their members were in Chicago to put some pressure on the Democratic party.
While they want to encourage people to vote for the Harris/Walz ticket, they feel there are some unkept promises from the Democratic party that they want to see realized.
"Though we are organizing to turn out for Harris/Walz, we are calling for Harris to prioritize and pass immigration reform in the first 100 days of her new administration,' said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Voces de la Frontera Action executive director.
Voces de la Frontera is also calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
They want to see the United States invest any money that would go towards the war in Gaza and pour those funds into community resources here in the states.
