Milwaukee Health Department offers free flu shots for kids

More than 20 people in Milwaukee have been hospitalized for influenza, a number much higher than the average at this time in past years.  The flu is one of the most contagious respiratory illnesses, and though incredibly common, it can be deadly for the very young, old, or those with weakened immune systems.

The City of Milwaukee Health Department is offering free flu shots to children 18 and under on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the city's Northwest Health Center (7630 W. Mill Rd.) from 3-6 p.m.

The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older, and is most crucial for adults over 65, kids younger than 5, and pregnant women.
