The City of Milwaukee Health Department is warning us about a reported case of measles in just about every state surrounding us, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois. And the worry is it's a matter of time before the very contagious virus finds itself here.
Perhaps what's so frightful is how fast it can spread not to mention how long it can hang around in the air, in some cases for hours.
Red, splotchy spots and a high fever are two common symptoms of the measles. If can be prevented with a two-dose vaccine, recommended for those as early as 12 month olds.
