MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) – Election day is just 29 days away.
In order for your vote to count you have to register, but you have to make sure you’re doing it properly.
“If you think your vote doesn’t matter, you’re awfully wrong,” said one of the volunteers at Monday’s event.
That’s part of the message Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. and Souls to the Polls wished to get across as they helped people register to vote.
“We’re helping them with other issues they have like photo IDs, absentee voting, locations, times, and places,” said the volunteer.
Regardless of who people vote for, the event aimed at helping people understand the power of their vote.
“We want to vote for power for our community and make sure we stay together after the third and vote together on items that will increase the development of our community,” explained the volunteer.
People also received COVID-19 safety kits that included hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and information on symptoms and getting tested.
“Every vote counts,” said Kevin Williams, a voter who received help on his registration. “No matter who you vote for, it counts.”
If you’d like to check if you’re registered, order a ballot, or track your ballot you can do so here.
