MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local company is urging Milwaukee homeowners to have their homes inspected as spring approaches and wildlife baby season begins. Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control focuses on humane wildlife control methods.
Marcus Mueller with Skedaddle joined us on Tuesday, March 21 to discuss the importance of proper home inspections and addressing wildlife conflicts with humane methods.
Skedaddle recently discovered a mother squirrel and her four newborns nesting behind the wall of a Riverwest residence. The homeowner had hired contractors to repair damaged fascia and gutters but was unaware of the squirrel infestation.
Instead of addressing the issue, the contractor covered squirrel entry points with aluminum flashing, which the animals easily chewed through to regain entry.
Using a thermal imaging camera, a Skedaddle technician located the litter and removed the babies by hand, placing them in a heated baby reunion box for their mother to relocate. The entry points were then repaired and sealed.
