MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee is introducing two new Catholic grade schools for the first time in nearly 60 years.

To celebrate, local leaders gathered at St. Rafael the Archangel School for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Aug. 11.

St. Rafael the Archangel School and Prince of Peace School will open on Aug. 24 for the start of the school year, with capacity for 500 students each in K4-8th grades.

The project will continue with phase two, according to Seton Catholic Schools, which includes building out the outdoor recreation spaces for both schools, including a turf soccer field, exercise track, basketball courts, an outdoor classroom and devotional space.
