Milwaukee man sentenced to life in prison for killing popular local barber

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Monday, April 29, for shooting and killing a popular Milwaukee barber

Prosecutors say Joel Blake fatally shot Dominic Carter in September of 2021 at Domino's Pizza near Silver Spring and Lovers Lane.

Carter was a well-known barber and youth mentor in the city. Friends said Carter would leave his barbershop nearly every day to buy pizza from the nearby Domino's for area kids who were part of his mentorship program.

A jury found Blake guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony bail jumping.

Family members say Carter leaves behind multiple children.
