Milwaukee non-profits gifted donations by AES Foundation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Today, Oct. 2, was a pretty big day for some non-profit groups in Milwaukee.

The AES Foundation was in town, and they were on a mission.

The organization is an off shoot of a restaurant group that operates most of the Arby's in town. What they do is raise money for non-profits that have big impacts in their communities.

That goal brings them all across the country and today was Milwaukee's turn.

At least that was the plan.

When the CEO of the AES Foundation learned more about one non-profit's mission - he tripled their gift, making it $30,000.

That group represents Hometown Heroes Inc. Part of their mission is running two camps, one for kids who have had parents in the military who died overseas. The other is available to kids who parents are incarcerated.

They do a lot of important work, but the cost adds up.

Liz Braatz and her son Caleb were there on the organization's behalf today and Caleb had one idea of how that money can be spent.

"Buy a bunch of pizza for all the kids," he said.

While the pizza idea is a good one, the money will be used to buy new clothes and shoes. As well as fund their rehabilitation programs.

This money will be able to give even more kids access to some really important services.
