Milwaukee offering spring leaf cleanup with March 15 deadline

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee Department of Public Works is asking residents to rake leaves into the street by Sunday, March 15, leaving a one-foot gap from the curb, according to a release from the city.

The final collection cycle begins Monday, March 16, and no service request is needed.

The cleanup comes after early snowfall and freezing temperatures interrupted the fall leaf collection season before it could be fully completed, the city said.

For the first time outside of Project Clean & Green, residents can also bag leaves in compostable paper bags for curbside pickup. Plastic bags will not be collected. Bagged leaf pickup requires a request by clicking here, the MKEMobileAction app or by calling (414) 286-CITY by March 15.
