Milwaukee parking meters temporarily unable to accept direct credit card payments starting Oct. 1

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Credit card payments made directly at parking meters in the City of Milwaukee will be temporarily beginning in October.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) says Park-O-Meter, the company that provides software for the city's meters, unexpectedly announced their closure, effective Oct. 1.

The city will immediately begin looking for a new vendor, according to DPW, and make the transition as soon as possible.

Drivers will still be able to pay by coin at city meters or by credit card through the ParkMobile app or online.
