Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Biship
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police officers collected food for people in need today ahead of Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 20.
The Milwaukee Police Department held their annual "Stuff The Squad" event outside the Pick N' Save near Glenview and Bluemound.
Contributors bought Thanksgiving foods like stuffing, cranberry sauce, and canned gravy to be collected in a police squad car.
The community center's director told CBS 58 that events like these are important, especially during the pandemic.
"Before COVID, it was important because I realized the community needed help. When COVID hit, I saw it four times over I saw they needed more help," said Dee McCollum, Director of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
Officials say the food will be handed out at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on Monday, Nov. 22.
