MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new resource center on Milwaukee's south side aims to provide crucial help for the city's Spanish-speaking community.
Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee opened up a satellite office on S. 6th St. and W. National Avenue late last year.
But the office has been busy this year with the dramatic rise in eviction filings.
February saw the highest number of eviction filings in the city of Milwaukee since the start of the pandemic and the highest number of single month filings since August of 2017.
Legal Aid hopes its new office can help be an accessible resource for the Latino community on the south side.
"We're really just trying to provide, like I said earlier, wrap-around services and really integrate with other organizations so as to become an important and central pillar of the Latino community on the south side," said attorney Rodrigo Sanchez Sandoval.
Legal Aid says it plans on adding more staff to its south side office in the coming months.
