Milwaukee seeks candidates for 2024 Christmas tree 🎄

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As Linus in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" said, "I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love."

The City of Milwaukee is asking the public to check their properties for the tree that might just need a little love to become the perfect fit as the city's official 2024 Christmas tree.

The Department of Public Works announced Monday, Sept. 16 that it is accepting nominations from residents and property owners for the 111th annual city Christmas tree. Eligible trees must be located within the city, stand at least 30 feet tall and be accessible for harvest with a crane without overhead obstructions.

Trees will be judged on size, shape, uniformity, density and color. DPW Forestry staff will handle the removal, transportation and site restoration of the selected tree.

Residents wishing to have their tree considered should contact the City of Milwaukee at (414) 286-CITY by Friday, Oct. 4. The tree will be displayed in Deer District outside Fiserv Forum and decorated in partnership with style expert David Caruso.

The donors of the chosen tree will join Mayor Cavalier Johnson at the tree lighting ceremony in December.
