Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre now part of National Register of Historic Places
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre is officially part of the National Register of Historic Places.
According to a news release, the news comes almost exactly one year after the theater was listed on the State Historic Registry.
A staple of the east side for almost 100 years, the Oriental Theatre is a destination for those looking to take in a movie, anyone who appreciates intricate design, or those just wanting to visit a Milwaukee landmark.
"I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Jonathan Jackson and the hard working staff at Milwaukee Film who assumed control of the Oriental Theatre in 2018 and have worked tirelessly since then to improve the building and receive this designation, all while keeping its historic charm intact," said Milwaukee District 2 Alderman Jonathan Brostoff. "If you haven’t been to the Oriental lately, I would encourage you to stop by and enjoy this historic destination."
