MKE's Birdie competes in TSA Cutest Canine contest

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Voting has begun in the Transportation Security Administration’s 2024 Cutest Canine contest, with Birdie, a three-year-old Yellow Lab/Vizsla mix from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, among the four finalists.

The public is invited to vote via TSA’s social media platforms, including Instagram, X and Facebook.

Voting for Birdie in the first round is open until Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. If she advances, additional voting will begin Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Birdie, who has worked with her handler Zach for nearly a year, is part of TSA’s explosives detection canine teams, which aim to play a crucial role in maintaining security.

The contest winner will be announced Monday, Aug. 26.
