Moss Universal Park breaking ground to offer inclusive recreation access

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Ability Center, in collaboration with Milwaukee County and design partners from IMPACT Parks, is set to hold a groundbreaking for the first phase of a redevelopment project on Wednesday, July 26.

Moss Universal Park, touted as a new concept in inclusive park design, is being brought to life on the former site of Wisconsin Avenue Park in Wauwatosa. The project, priced at $10 million, will transfigure the 18-acre space into a universally accessible recreational area.

This initiative will be inaugurated on the Wednesday marking the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Among the keynote speakers will include Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, State Senator Rob Hutton and State Representative Robyn Vining.

Designed for individuals of all abilities, the initial phase of the project will see the creation of a park clubhouse, playground, baseball fields and a parking lot.

Completion is anticipated by summer 2024, with the final unveiling of the fully redeveloped Moss Universal Park projected for summer 2025.
