Mothers of children lost to gun violence walk Milwaukee's streets
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's a group they did not want to joint but now several Milwaukee mothers who lost their children to gun violence are hoping by coming together, they can help prevent future shootings.
The mothers held a community walk this afternoon, Sept. 27. They hope the sight of them walking Milwaukee's streets will make people think twice before using guns to resolve a dispute.
Candice Dorsey organized the walk.
She says if she can change just one person's mind, she's done her job.
She believes by joining forces with other grieving moms, they can reach more people.
"Unfortunately, I became in a group I never asked for. I ended up meeting some wonderful mothers who have experienced the same thing I have," Dorsey said. "We lean on each other, talk to each other, try to come up with ways to make a difference in our city."
Dorsey's 16-year-old son Shaun was shot and killed three years ago near 38th and Hadley.
Today, she is still waiting for her son to get justice.
