MPD investigating fatal Christmas Day shooting near 37th and Scott, 2 teens dead
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a double fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday, Dec. 25 near the intersection of 37th and Scott. Officials say the incident took place at around 11:25 a.m.
According to a media release from the Milwaukee Police Dept., an unknown suspect fired into a vehicle, shooting two teenage victims. A 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while an 18-year-old later died at a local hospital.
Nearby home security video shared with CBS 58 by a neighbor shows the moment a white car lost control after being shot at. Juan Martinez was in his home when he heard the shots.
“Like a black car, came up to here, shot the white car," said Martinez. "They haven’t even reached adults and they’re already suffering from violence from the city.”
Ashlee Knight was celebrating Christmas on her home when she saw it happen.
“The young man was laying on the sidewalk, I checked his pulse," said Knight.
Knight, who is a nurse, says she climbed into the car to help a victim until paramedics arrived.
“She was in very rough shape, she had a gunshot wound to her head," said Knight.
On what was supposed to be the most joyful day of the year, Knight says Milwaukee is still grappling with gun violence in its community.
“Those are kids. You know, I just talked to both of their parents and consoled them on Christmas and that’s the hard part.”
Police have not identified a suspect and are continuing the investigation," said Knight.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or through the P3 Tips online service.
