MPS announces 2 upcoming lead-screening clinics available to community children

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) announced two upcoming lead-screening clinics open to the community in May and June.

The free clinics will be available to all children on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 19
    • MacDowell Montessori School: 6415 W. Mount Vernon Avenue
    • 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 2
    • Riley Dual Language Montessori School: 2424 S. 4th St.
      • 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

MPS says the schools were chosen based on location and convenience for families, not due to any lead risk to children attending those schools. The district says separate, in-school clinics will be held for the schools' students.

Appointments are not needed, but a parent or guardian must fill out a consent form at the clinic.

The screening is done through a finger prick, with results ready in minutes.
