MPS shifts to optional mask policy Aug. 19-25, will then reassess

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Changes are being made to the Covid protocols in Milwaukee public schools.

The district says masks are now optional for all students and staff starting Friday, Aug. 19 through Thursday, Aug. 25. 

That's when new county data becomes available and the district will reassess. 

School officials say this change in protocol is based on CDC recommendations after Milwaukee County dropped out of the high Covid transmission category.
