NCAA members host conversation about current state of NIL

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Numerous members across the NCAA and the house of representatives met at the University of Wisconsin in Madison on Friday, April 11.
They discussed the current state of name, image, and likeness -- also known as NIL -- in college sports.
Also in Madison for the discussion was Charlie Baker, the current president of the NCAA.
One of the big issues on the table is funding the continuation of non-revenue sports.
Nationally, concerns have been raised over the possibility of schools dropping less profitable sports.
"We are very nervous about that, the USOC (United States Olympic Community) is very concerned about that because this is the training ground for our Olympic athletes. We are all cognizant of that and how that will shake out we are not sure. We are certainly going to try to encourage as best we can that schools do not start dropping sports. The idea is that student athletes have this opportunity, and we don't want to deny that to athletes if we can," said Ohio Representative Jim Jordan.
Representatives from all three divisions across college athletics attended the roundtable.
