NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) — A 35-year-old New Berlin man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he struck two pedestrians with a vehicle and fled the scene.

According to the New Berlin Police Department, officers responded shortly before 8:30 a.m. to a business on West Lincoln Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving two pedestrians.

Police obtained a description of the vehicle and shared it with other officers in the area. The vehicle was later located, and officers conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was taken into custody.

Police said a charge of hit-and-run causing injury is expected to be referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office for review.

The pedestrians, a 49-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, both from Milwaukee, were performing parking lot maintenance when they were struck.

Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The 49-year-old was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
