New details on deadly Watertown plane crash

WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- We received new details about a deadly plane crash in Watertown that left a man and his grandson dead.

According to a preliminary report from the NTSB, the plane was in the air for two minutes and twenty-four seconds.

In that time, it made multiple climbs and decents and turns -- never getting out of the clouds.

Then, about 15 seconds before the crash, the plane started a steep roll to the right, and dropped quickly.

It was going down at more than 240 miles per hour before the crash, which is unusual because this type of plane isn't supposed to fly more than 225 miles per hour.
