Details announced for the 10th annual Mayor’s Masked Ball fundraiser
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With grills firing up across Wisconsin for the Fourth of July, the Milwaukee Fire Department and USAA are teaming up with new Packers star Josh Jacobs to remind everyone to be safe.
Nearly 10,000 homes are damaged by grill fires per year, and more happen in July than any other month.
Jacobs suited up Tuesday to demonstrate how to properly put out a grill fire, saying he has a new respect for firefighters and everything they have to do.
"Have safety protocols...just going back to my experiences, I've burnt myself a few times," said Jacobs. "I've done just little things that you don't think will happen to you. It happens. Just prepare for the worst."
"Don't leave the grills unattended, don't overload a grill with all kinds of lighter fluid," said Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Aaron Lipski. "Keep it away from structures, move it away from directly against the back of the house or garage."
