MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A newly-retired physical education teacher at MPS got the sendoff of a lifetime Friday.
Steven Krey was surprised by coworkers and students as they drove by his house to wish him a happy retirement.
The effort was led by his wife, who says it wasn't easy keeping the secret during the pandemic.
"When I walked out the door and I saw the signs behind me, I was like 'Ohhh, okay,'" Krey said.
"We had different people stationed in different places to help put this together, I did not do this by myself at all," said Steven's wife, Jill Kenchan-Krey. "I had so much help."
After 29 years of teaching PE, Krey says he hopes he can mentor other teachers in the fall.
