MUKWONAGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say a woman stabbed an Illinois man at a Mukwonago gas station Monday morning.

It happened at North Star Shell gas station near Highway 83 and Veterans Way around 9:16 a.m.

According to the Mukwonago Police Department, an 18-year-old woman stabbed a 59-year-old Illinois man with a large kitchen knife.

They say it appears that the woman randomly selected the man. There is no evidence that they knew each other, and they did not have any type of confrontation prior to the stabbing.

The man was taken to Froedtert Hospital for stab wounds to the chest and hand.

The woman was arrested by officers inside the store. Officials have not yet released the woman's name.

She was taken to the Waukesha County Jail and held on a charge of attempted first degree intentional homicide.
