MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Marquette University track and field athlete, 21-year-old William Waterstradt, has been charged with 12 felonies in Langlade County involving child sex crimes, as stated in public records.
Some of the felonies Waterstradt has been charge with include second-degree sexual assault on a child, child sexual enticement and use of computer to facilitate child sex crime.
According to a criminal complaint, the girl involved was 13 at the time and believed she was talking to a 17-year-old named, "Connor O'Neill."
She says she told him she was 13 when they started chatting, the complaint says. And told investigators William took nude pictures of her before they had sexual intercourse.
CBS 58 reached out to Marquette University and we were provided this statement:
"We do not comment on ongoing legal matters. William Waterstradt is not currently enrolled at Marquette University."
CBS 58 reached out to the attorney representing Waterstradt who says that his family are devastated by the allegations and that he has no prior record or police contacts.
"William is senior at Marquette University and is a track and field athlete and he has no prior record or police contacts. He comes from a good family who are devastated by these allegations. William and his family are taking these allegations seriously and I am in the process of obtaining police reports and other evidence. William is presumed innocent and I would ask that the public withhold judgement until his case is resolved through the court process." - Attorney statement.
