WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) – Babies in Aurora Women’s Pavilion NICU are participating in a Halloween costume contest.
On Monday, more than a dozen babies were dressed in costumes including a mermaid, candy, Superwoman and a chicken.
It’s the first time the NICU has held the contest. The goal isn’t only to see cute costumes but to help normalize a family’s experience in the hospital.
“Yes your baby is here needing extra care, maybe ill, but there are things we can do to make your bonding experience and your experience in the hospital a little less frightening and a little more special,” Staff nurse Nicole Follette said.
Photos of the babies will be posted on the Aurora Facebook page where people can vote for their favorite costumes through Thursday. The top six favorites will be given gift cards.
