Noche de Niños toy drive benefits kids around Milwaukee
Have a rocking time and help local kids too! Noche de Niños is Wednesday, December 13.
Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee organizes a toy drive every year. This is the 14th year for it.
HPGM has been collecting toy donations for weeks. The group will collect more Wednesday night and celebrate the effort at Noche de Niños.
"We provide the opportunity for those in our community to get out, live generously, and make a difference providing toys for kids in need in the greater Milwaukee area," Julie Valadez with Thrivent Financial, one of the event sponsors, said.
The toys collected during this year's toy drive will be donated to 12 non-profit organizations that serve local children and families. Those agencies include: Christ-St. Peter Lutheran School, H.W. Longfellow School, La Causa, Meta House, Milwaukee Center For Independence, Running Rebels Community Organization, SaintA, Saint Anthony School Milwaukee, St. Martini Lutheran School, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, UMOS, and United Community Center.
"To be able to have a toy this Christmas makes a big difference in our community. Every kid should know they're special and enjoy Christmas this year,” Valadez said.
Noche de Niños is from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. The studio is located at 220 E. Pittsburgh Avenue in Milwaukee.
Bring a toy or $10 donation to get into the event.
CBS 58 Morning News anchor Jessica Tighe is the emcee. Bel Air Cantina is providing food and The Front Porch Rockers are the entertainment.
